MAD FOR PLAID

On these nails I used a martha stewart glitter in brownstone mixed with clear acrylic. After I finished filing the nails I used a striping brush to paint on a plaid pattern. Finally I added a 3d pumpkin. This plaid pattern would be really cute using Christmas colors also.

Same idea as above just without the pumpkin.

On these nails I used acrylic in brownstone and added some festive Thanksgiving themed stickers. I also added orange and yellow dots with polish.

Last Chance Trick or Treat

Ok, here is what i came up today for the party. I wanted to do somehting military to match the costume, but in last minute decided to go with orange.

Happy Halloween

Thanks Etsy! I am the Featured Seller!

Thanks to Etsy, and the supportive community of buyers and sellers! I am happy to announce that I have been selected as this weekend's Featured Seller! I am honored (and quite humbled) that they have selected my shop. Read the interview HERE.

xoxo,

I painted an old, red VW which is titled “Dead Bug”.
Seems like anyone who ever owned an old bug takes a liking to this painting, but it also seems like they all had a different color bug! I did paint a yellow bug for someone who saw the red one and wanted a gift for a friend who used to have, of course, a yellow bug.
People will ask me “Do you have it in green (blue, yellow, etc.)” as though the painting is like a sweater in a store. Unbelievable!

Old Times at Platteville

In 1994, 4 Bears fans from Lerner Newspapers and the Chicago area trekked out to Platteville to check out the Chicago Bears during training camp. Those men were Louie Atsaves, Jason Farber, Darryl Corter and me.What a blast we had. It was scorching hot (I think Darryl is still suffering the effects of his sunburn). We sat under the blazing sun and watched a scrimmage. This was right before Coach Dave Wannstedt's 2nd season with the Bears. It would be a 9-7 season and would give Chicago fans hope for good things (which didn't happen).
We ate at a restaurant which only served 'white' pop (which apparently meant no cola beverages). At that same restaurant, Louie ate his potato without even realizing it (he still denies eating it). We also made a trip to the casino boats by the river (was that Dubuque?).
I love the photo below because of the interaction between Wannstedt and his quarterback Steve Walsh (#4). I am assuming Walsh is introducing Wannstedt to his wife. This makes sense, since this was Walsh's first year with the Bears.
I also like that former Bears lineman and Chicago broadcaster Dan Jigggetts can be seen to the left. He is the large man (very large man) in black pants.

Courtney Love Quits Plastic Surgery...Because of Jocelyn Wildenstein?

Courtney Love has apparently sworn off plastic surgery after seeing "The Lion Woman" Jocelyn Wildenstein up close. According to Zimbio.com:

Love ran into the 63-year-old socialite recently and was shocked at the way Wildenstein looked after $4 million worth of cosmetic procedures. Jocelyn is rumored to have had everything from a face lift and lip implants to cheek, chin and breast implants. Courtney said, "I could do with another boob lift, but no way. I don't want to end up looking like her. She looked freaky."

I sometimes see patients who've had grossly overdone facial plastic surgery for consultation. Most people would be surprised at how many of these patients don't want corrective surgery, but are there to get more changes made. These are the ones who can 'scare' off new patients in the waiting room. Can you imagine walking into your plastic surgeon's office and seeing Jocelyn Wildenstein waiting to be seen too? Would you turn around and leave?

OPPOSITE FADE

On these nails I switched the fade colors on every other nail. I also added fimo clay leaves from kennickkreations.com

PUMPKIN FADE

This is a fade I did with acrylic in acorn and ripe plum. I made a 3d pumpkin with ez flow acryic in candy corn. First I dip my brush in the monomer and damp it out on a paper towel. Then I pick up a small ball of orange acrylic. I place it on the nail and damp my brush out again. I shape it into a pumpkin then I lightly push a cuticle pusher into the acrylic to make it look like it has ridges like a real pumpkin. I then add a tiny bit of green acrylic to make a stem. Last I add a vine with a nail art pen. Of course I finish everything off with a gel top coat.

FADE FADE FADE FADE.....

Ok so I've done a lot of fades lately. Well when you start doing them they are addicting because they are just sooooo cool! This one is done with acrylic in blackberry and mystery.

POLKA DOTS, FADE, AND FUN!

On these nails I did a fade and then switched it up by doing white acrylic with dots on the ring fingers. Doing something different on the ring fingers is such an easy way to make the nails stand out and they're just cute and fun!

PURPLE FLOWER

On these nails I added flower stickers into the acrylic. I used a small drill bit and drilled a straight line on the edge of the nail. I filled it in with the purple acrylic. To finish off these nails I added dots with nail polish.

Alex At The Berrics

Watch Alex Perelson conquering the vert wall at the Berrics. Not only did he make the sketchy drop but he did it the first try for "First Try Fridays."

High Fidelity

A few weeks ago, we went to see "High Fidelity", a musical based on the 90's film of the same name starring John Cusack. I had no idea what to expect, but I got much more than I thought I would.
Every performer was simply outstanding (which probably makes no sense by definition). Still, this is my blog, my review and my way. Therefore each was outstanding.
After the show, we hung around the bar area and met several of the performers and the lyricist Amanda Green. They were all very friendly and seemed genuinely touched and pleased that we had such positive comments about each and the show in general.
Unfortunately, the show ended its Chicago run, but the Route 66 Theater Company will continue producing other quality theatre. If given the opportunity, do not pass on Route 66!

Blue motive

Here is another version of the previously made design, just now in blue color.
It actually turned out really well.

And here are some nails i have done today for my friend, it actually turned out really well, but pictures quality is not the best. She has gorgeous nails, and i hope that i ll do more designs on it. And by the way she is really really beautiful girl too. :)

FRIDAY CUP SPECIAL

Friday 30th of October 2009

I'ts been tricky trying to fish
something from the
collection that  might be Melbourne Cup related,
but I think this piece might just be it.

Because.....

1. the greyhounds chase bunny replicas
around the track. this is a bunny replica
and you can wear
it to the track.

2. bunnies run very fast like some horses

3. It's a white rabbit, the symbol of fantasy
and dream like experience.
Sounds like gambling on the cup to me.

I know it's a stretch but the pendant is a nice one.

This baby is paint on recycled timber
with an 46cm. antique bronze chain and clasp.

measures 3.5 X 2.5cm
weights next to nothing

The Jay Leno Club:Part 2

A couple weeks ago, I wrote about the first group of celebrities to join my Jay Leno Club. To recap, the Jay Leno Club is comprised of celebrities who have mentioned my alleged resemblance to Jay Leno. Currently, the club consisted of Patrick Warburton, Larry Zbyszko, the Honky Tonk Man, Terri Runnels, Brian Knobbs and the Iron Sheik.
After I wrote about my encounter with the Honky Tonk Man at the Motor City Comic Con, the Evil Zebra saw the piece and contacted me. When I knew I would be going to the Ultimate Collectors Show in Oaks (PA), he informed his buddy, King Kong Bundy, that I would be there and looking for him. Bundy was a lot of fun. He also joined the Jay Leno Club by making the reference.
Therefore, without further adieu, I present the 2 n
ewest members of the Jay Leno Club, the Evil Zebra and King Kong Bundy! It is quite fitting that these two wrestling legends should be inducted together.

New mini art paintings

I created some more aceo cards today, you will find them in my etsy shop. I was thinking I would add to my abc cards, but I went with the flow and made these instead. I love it when my art has a mind of its own, I'm really never sure what will come out of me, until its finished! I am also letting go of a few rug hooked art items. You will find them here.

I'll do a 'How it's made' in the near future - I'll bask in the saccharine, self-satisfied and extremely pleasant glow of a dream coming true for a while.

I think this calls for an even stiffer drink.

Edit: I've even made onto the superb Forbidden Planet Blog!

I'll be pretty busy the next week and a half or so finalizing the ViewPoint show, so I thought I would put up some of my older work, starting with my series of old cars. (Sadly, I began painting the cars prior to obtaining my digital camera and so don’t have a photo of all of them).

* * * * *

It all began with an old Buick.
My friend saw it parked at an herb farm we were visiting and she came running for me to take a photo.
There it stood, in all its glory, with a water bag hanging from the front fender. But just as I took my photo the owners approached, so I left, not sure if they would be upset that I was taking photos of their car. However, the photos turned out so well that I eventually painted a few paintings of that car.
About a year later my car paintings were being displayed in a gallery in Rising Sun, IN during the local car show. To my utter disbelief, the owners of the old Buick walked into the gallery, having seen the painting of their car in the window. (Small world!) Well, they didn’t purchase that painting, but they did later purchase a smaller one of just the front of the car, as well as ask me to make name tags for their annual car club get together using the painting of their car.

Ice-T (not Coke)?

I admit, Ice-T is not in my usual field of celebrities I meet. Still, it was very cool to meet this multi-talented man at the Ultimate Collectors Show. Ice-T has done it all, including performing a song for the Godfather of the WWE at Wrestlemania XVI.
I wasn't planning on meeting Ice-T. He was there with his wife Coco and they had a long line of fans waiting to meet them. I was busy trying to meet all of the other sports stars that were there.
Later in the day, I walked by Ice-T's table and saw a very short line. I couldn't pass up the chance to meet him. I am glad I took the opportunity.
Ice-T was very low key and quiet, yet he made sure to really talk with everyone individually. I heard so many people walking away commenting on how nice he was. He was nice, but he was more. He seemed to really be thankful for the fans and to really try to make it a memorable time for all of them.

Thanks Bobby Chiu and Mike Mignola!

If you don't already know, Bobby Chiu of Imaginism Studios hosts a weekly Live Streaming series called the Chiu Stream! He just finished up his interview with Comic Legend Mike Mignola creator of Hellboy :D(which you can rewatch on the stream)! Every week(or I think its still weekly) he hosts a contest with a subject from the artist hes interviewing and everybody has to draw their interpretation to get voted on... The winner of this gets a free sketch from whoever hes interviewing! Its a really great thing to be apart of and really fun. So if youre an artist you should give it a shot when he announces his next interview :).

So, this week my Frankenstein image was chosen as the winner by Mike Mignola! I'm super pumped to get my original sketchhh, gonna get a nice frame mmmm. So yea, its totally worth it to participate! Although I do think I'll be bowing out of the whole thing for awhile do to a massive workload looming on the horizon D:.

But yea, thanks again to Bobby Chiu and everyone at Imaginism for this awesome opportunity! And again, if you can you gotta participate! Just follow his twitter and he'll probably announce the next one soon.

I should have a lot of stuff to post up soon! Good stuff I hope D:.

I'll also be hosting my live stream on Mondays from now on(unless Bobby's Streams are monday, in which case I'll change it because I wanna watch em hahah)!

Thanks everybody!

Maria Shriver - Botox Brow?

I've seen Maria Shriver on TV quite a bit lately, and am always surprised by how her looks have changed over the last 10+ years. To me, she exhibits the classic Botox Brow: A shiny forehead that doesn't move combined with overly arched eyebrows creating a sinister look. The most obvious sign of overdone Botox (or Dysport) is when a person's forehead and eyebrows just don't move, no matter what their expression.

Her face has gotten so gaunt, too. A little facial fat grafting would do wonders for her.

The Eyes Have It

'Twas a very busy week last week, and while I have a photo of my party manicure, I'll post that later this week. For now, here's the manicure I'm sporting this week - the last Halloween nail art of the season for me.

The colors I chose this week were traditional Halloween colors with a little bling - China Glaze "Liquid Leather" and "Spellbound", and Pure Ice in "Hot Tamale" (I have no idea why orange polish would be named something that sounds red, but it's Walmart polish, so that probably explains it). I was going to use some clay canes as you can see in the photo, but they just didn't look quite right over the dark polish (I got them cut nice and thin, but the polish dulled the colors then). So I decided on a simpler approach, and got out my tiny little googly eyes instead.
First, base coats of Liquid Leather and Hot Tamale, alternating for the most part. I love these colors - so bold and warm.
Then a coat of Spellbound - over the black polish on one hand, and over the orange on the other hand.
I was originally just going to have two fingers, one on each hand with the glitter coat, but decided to do three each instead.
Then my googly eyes on the non-spellbound fingers! I love these eyes...they may be cheesy, but they make me smile when I look down and see the little "eyes" wiggling.
A few thick coats of top coat (too thick, as it turns out...I used the Sephora top coat, and it bubbled on me, dang it anyway), and voila!
My nails are watching you...

Next week, something tamer, and fall-themed. Some leaves, maybe?
