NOTD: Color Club Pucci-licious + Confetti

I am in a good mood today and wanted a bright color with some glitter. I looked in my collection and Color Club Pucci-licious stood out to me and since I have never used it before it was a perfect pick. I love this color so much now. It went on smooth in 2 coats and the color is like no other purple I own. I then looked for a glitter and I had recently bought Jesse's Girl Confetti which has purple and blue bar string glitter.

Disney Merchandise for Living Happily Ever After

Bride and Groom Disney Ear Hats

Bride and Groom Disney Ear Hat Merchandise

“I chose the ear hats as I wanted a wedding message that was related to our Disney Parks,” said David. “I’ve seen many honeymoon couples at Disney who love wearing those hats, so it made sense to have an assortment featuring those icons.”

For the ear-hat art program, there are a variety of items including pins (the ultra portable item to inform others you are the happy couple); photo albums and wedding frames to capture memories from the special day; and my favorite item – coffee cups. Those cups sure make it easy to identify who gets what cup in the morning (especially when one is a little sleepy).

Mickey and Minnie Wedding Figurines

Disney Bride and Groom Vinylmation Figures

Q: On a recent visit to Tokyo Disney Resort, I noted a large amount of merchandise, from figurines to jigsaw puzzles, relating to the marriage of Mickey and Minnie. Is there an official back story behind this particular form merchandise that appears in Japan?
Keith, Sydney, Australia

A [Dave Smith]:
At least in the United States, Disney does not recognize that Mickey and Minnie are "married."

Friendly Encounters

This is a weekly feature highlighting friends who have met celebs.

Years ago, the Brian Pillman Memorial Show was an annual event to honor the late Brian Pillman and to raise money for the widow Pillman and their children. There was a 'meet and greet' with the wrestlers, followed by a full evening of great matches. JayHawk Evans and I made the trek to Cincinnati to attend the show.
William Regal had finished with his photo-op session, but several fans remained. Regal didn't walk away. Instead, he walked over to us and posed for pictures with anyone who wanted one. That was going above and beyond.
Regal has had an interesting career. He has battled his demons (on and off) and seemingly has overcome them. He has won a bunch of titles, but unfortunately never a world championship in a major organization. Still, he has had a long and successful career and he still is capable of producing excellent matches, great mic work and entertaining skits.

January Haul!

I have a whole bunch of stuff to show you that Ive gotten since my last haul post. First up is my new little army of Zoya polishes I ended up getting 9 because I used the code 3 times with different accounts thanks to my cousin and boyfriend. These are the first in my collection.

(Right to Left)
* Shivon * Crystal * Valerie
* Cheryl * Indigo * Adina
* Happi * Perrie * Robyn

I will be buying more Zoya from  now on as well as the Color Lock System to get the best out of these. I had an unfortunate thing happen to one of my bottles in the shipping process my baby Crystal came damaged and spilling its was too bad take a look.

Next up is the very popular OPI Katy Perry Collection I managed to get 4 out of 5 of them before they were sold out. I pre-ordered Black Shatter from Mbeauty lounge and the other I had my local Ulta put whatever polishes they had of the collection left on hold. I got there and unfortunately I am missing The one that got away and it did literally.

* Last Friday Night * Not like the movies * Teenage Dream * Black Shatter

Now for some beauties I picked up at the drugstore some are from Rite Aid and some are from Walgreens. I have been struggling to keep my nails long and healthy but I change polish so often that my nails are weak and are always breaking I am going to be testing out Total Nail Rx see if it works for my nails.

Jesse's Girl Confetti (old rectangle tops)
Borgehese Mediterranoe sea
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mint Sorbet
Sally Hansen Salon Effects Collide-O-Scope
Sally Hansen Salon Effects Fly with me
Total Nail Rx

I received a Hot Topics gift card a while ago and I finally decided to use it and on the website they had the mini nail sets for 98 cents so I could resist on getting 2 of each, one for me and they other for a future giveaway. Then I took my usual trip to Dollar Tree I found sets LA Colors Nail Dazzling its polish and glitter I ended up getting every color they had.

I saved the best for last as you all probably know the Hello Kitty by Sephora collection has been released at stores and online. I was unable to purchase anything when they had the preview event for Beauty Insiders and I'm glad I waited. Ive been able to see swatches and comparisons of the polishes and to me out of the whole collection only one polish was worth the $10 they each go for and that was Purple Sprinkles. I also bought some HK decals and since I use my Beauty Insider card often I had more then 100 point and I receive the Hello Kitty Travel perfume for free!

Aren't they soo CUTE!!!

That's all for now still waiting on some Essie's I ordered and the release of the China Glaze crackle collection.

Milani FX Jewels Gold

So I got tired of my little short nails so I used the Cosmar get kit to get the nice long nails I want. I wanted to play with some glitter and I went for my Milani's and picked out Milani FX jewels Gold but that's a pretty tough glitter to apply on all your nails. I decided to do an accent nail with it instead and I picked out Orly Viridian Vinyl for the rest of my nails. I really love this look and I cant stop looking at my nails.

Its was pretty tough to apply the glitter because to get full coverage you have to do a couple coats and try to cover the bald spot. So after it covered all the way it was really thick and lumpy so I pressed my nail down with my finger and actually got it to flatten and even removed some of the clear polish then topped it with Seche Vite.

While preparing this post I happen to read today's post of the blogs I follow and It just happen that Chelle from Cosmetic Cupcake had the same idea. She paired it up with a light pink and some gold designs take a look. Click Here!  If you don't have Milani FX jewels gold it is a post have!

The Morning After...

by MaryAnn Carroll

can be tough with any kind of addiction...  Well... not ALL addictions!  The morning after a kiln firing when you have a "BEAD addiction" can be quite exciting.  It's the part of the addiction that keeps you wanting more.  It's like this one time, when Bill and I were in Saugatuck, Michigan, and went into this very cool bead store with LOADS of beads on sale!  It is a similiar thrill!  When it comes to beads, my second love next to art beads is turquoise... and that store was loaded with it.....

Okay, I'm heading off course...

Back to the morning after:  For all of you out there who are part of the "Supporting All Bead Addicts" group, you can imagine what it might feel like to open a kiln first thing in the morning and see this....

Lookin' Good!

Next, it is time to get them out and see if any minor collisions took place like 2 beads becoming 1 because they were placed too close in the kiln and the glaze fused them together or..... one dropped from a wire because I balanced it too far to the end.

Out they come....  Beads covering both sides of the bead trees....

Still Lookin' Good....

Time to remove them from the wires.  Here is when the the jury is called in....

Will they be good enough to put through to the next round?

And....we have all, but one survivor...  Not bad!  And that was just a little stray that I found and didn't want to throw out!  You can see it there still hanging on!  I guess that little bead was never really destined to be made into something special.

Now....I sort a little further.  Since I started up my jewelry venture again just a few months ago, I have been finding that I'm having a hard time parting with so many beads.  Instead of looking at them and thinking about what might look good together for sale in my Etsy shop, I've been looking at them and wondering what might look good in a piece of jewelry.  So, with this firing I decided to solve that problem and glaze extras of the beads that I covet the most.

So, there you have it.  The beads that are in a little group in the upper right are the ones that I'm keeping to add to my own collection (well...truthfully, since this picture was taken the other day, I've grabbed a couple of others....  but mostly, what you see here will eventually make it to my shop).

I have to say that clay is so fun to work with.  What you can do with it is endless.  An example of one  difference are the beads shown above.   I used the exact same glaze and applied with the same amount of thickness.  The clay body used on the beads shown on the left  is a stoneware mix and on the right is the porcelain, the clay that I use most often.  I gravitate toward porcelain because I can 'mostly' control the results because of its whiteness and translucence.  Lately, however, I have stepped outside of my little clay box and I'm experimenting with other clay bodies.  I have to say that it has been fun and the results surprising.

And lastly, I'm going to be redundant.....what I love the most are the endless creations.  You can create VERY small pieces of art like these little 5 mm beads (that is as small as I can get) .....

to these cute little guys and gals that my husband Bill has been working on....

These will be headed to the next wood-firing.

to very large sculptures created by clay artists around the world.

Thanks for stopping by to see a little of what goes on in my little part of the world in Homer, NY.

The questions I would like to leave you thinking about today are...

"What art beads are your favorites?"
"Do you make your own art beads, if so, what do you make?"
"If not, do you perhaps see yourself making art beads in your future?"

We would love to hear from you....  and stay tuned tomorrow for our next
EXCITING giveaway offered by Mary Jane Dodd.

Kevin Martin was not a Stiff

I haven't featured many basketball players here, because I haven't met a lot of basketball players.  I don't know why, but basketball players don't do a lot of autograph appearances.  I know there are less players per team (and therefore there should be proportionately less than baseball or football), but even that doesn't explain the few player appearances.
When I was recently in Houston, I Happened to run into "Kevin Martin".  I found him to be quite a cut-up (or was that cut-out?).  Hey, at least he smiled for the picture, unlike some celebs, whom I have met.
Martin is listed at 6'7" and that is pretty accurate.  I was amazed at how thin he is.  At 185 pounds, he is 5 pounds lighter than me.  It must be working, because he is averaging 17.7 points per game for his career.

YUPO PEONY

Well, folks, I never said I couldn’t paint on Yupo, just said I don’t like it.
To prove to you that I’m capable, here’s a Yupo demo utilizing what some call the “batik look”. This painting is my first experiment with using tape on Yupo.
To see another painting I did on Yupo – with watercolor - see my post here on ------ yet another painting of a peony!

I’m using fluid acrylic and my trusty peony photo for this project.

My first step was to get “high” on the alcohol fumes! You use alcohol to wipe over the surface of the Yupo to rid it of any smudges or dirt. I have a feeling this is more crucial if you are using watercolor instead of the fluid acrylics.

Using a watercolor pencil, I drew the flower directly onto the Yupo. If I made a mistake, I “erased” the line with water. The next time I do this I will probably wet the tip of the pencil first to make it a bit darker, since I kept losing my lines and had to redraw several times during this process.
The beauty of using this photo is that I can probably screw up the drawing and it will still come out looking like a peony!
