Our Steampunk Rings

I remember a few months ago when a friend told me 'have you heard about steampunk?’ I had no idea what he was talking about. I knew what it was but didn't know it had a name. He described it to me because he saw that I was making rings that were very similar to that style. With a little research and experiment with different materials, I created a unique style of rings. I wanted it to look like something mechanical . I also used material of natural copper and gun metal color to give it an antique look.

The technique I used includes a lot of precise coiling and twisting of 2 pieces of wire. I used about 1 meter of copper wire per ring. Originally I only had antique metal and borosilicate glass bead for the centerpiece. Recently I have included some interesting semi-precious stones: Indian Agate, Leopardskin jasper,red coral, smoky agate ,tiger eye beads and Boulder Matrix Opal.
Part of the fun in making these rings is in selecting the perfect centerpiece.

I'm also in the process of creating imaginary powers of stones , ideas for different mechanism and how these rings would have been used in the steampunk era . I used to play Role Playing game like shadowrun and Dungeon and dragon . I enjoy playing but even more creating new worlds , magical items and scenarios . Creating these rings opened many opportunities for others creative projects that I'm looking forward to realize .

Does Jennifer Garner Enhance Her Lips?

I always thought Jennifer Garner's lips were naturally large, like Angelina Jolie or Julia Roberts. I guess I was wrong. Check out this post on Awful Plastic Surgery. Maybe she enhances her lips with Restylane or Juvederm to help cover up a gummy smile? Whatever it is, her plastic surgeon does a nice job.

Next thing I'll find out is that Ben Affleck has pec implants!

Heather Locklear Arrested

Heather Locklear was arrested on Saturday for suspicion of driving under the influence, according to reports.

The actress was pulled over while driving in Santa Barbara. She was held in Santa Barbara County Jail and released without having to post bail.

Locklear recently spent time in an Arizona facility where she was treated for anxiety and depression. She is currently in a custody battle with her ex-husband Richie Sambora who was arrested on a DUI charge in March 2008.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year over 175,000 women (and 2000 men!) are diagnosed with breast cancer. Approximately 1 in 9 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Aside from skin cancer, it is the most common cancer in women. So how does this affect you if you have breast implants?

It's estimated that over 5 million women have breast implants today. If you have breast implants, how do you screen yourself for breast cancer, and how is this different from someone without implants?

The major rule is that you should follow the American Cancer Society guidelines for the early detection of breast cancer. Here they are:

Women ages 20-39: Monthly breast self-exam, clinical exam by your physician every three years.

Women ages 40 and up: Monthly breast self-exam, clinical exam by your physician every year, mammogram yearly.

Women at high risk (close family history of breast cancer, etc.) should discuss with their physician whether a yearly MRI may be indicated.

- When the FDA lifted the ban on silicone gel breast implants in November 2006, they recommended that anyone who undergoes silicone gel breast augmentation undergo an MRI three years after surgery, and every other year thereafter.

If you have breast implants, here are some other things to consider:

1. Breast implants can limit the amount of breast tissue that can be seen on a mammogram. If you have implants, then make sure your mammogram center takes extra pictures (called the Ecklund technique) to allow the radiologist to see as much of your breast tissue as possible.

2. Some physicians believe breast implants can actually facilitate (or improve) the ability to detect a breast mass on examination.

3. Studies show that breast implants do not increase your risk of breast cancer, delay your diagnosis of breast cancer, or worsen your prognosis once breast cancer is diagnosed.

4. If you are unsure how to perform a breast self-exam on implanted breasts, be sure to ask your plastic surgeon.

Remembering Paul Newman

This is a very sad day for entertainment. Paul Newman passed away surrounded by loved ones at his Connecticut Home. The actor, philanthropist, and legend was 83 years old.

Hollywood will remember his long, successful career which included roles in the films Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and the Color of Money. He was nominated for an Oscar ten times. Newman is also known for creating his own food empire, Newman's Own. His company has donated over $250 million dollars to charities personally selected by the actor.

Newman was the picture of class and honor. He was married to actress Joanne Woodward.

Kanye Has Something To Smile About

Looks like Kanye West will not face felony charges for the paparazzi scuffle involving him and his road manager, Don Crowley, at the LA airport earlier this month. Crowley has also been let off the hook for felony charges. Kanye blogged about the incident, saying, "We back in the lab!!! I'm cool with the paparazzi. This guy wasn't cool."

DJ AM Back Home in L.A.

After spending six days in the hospital following a devastating plane crash that killed four people, DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) has been released from care and returned back to his home in Los Angeles. His famous friend and co-survivor, Blink 182's former drummer Travis Barker, is expected to be released in a couple weeks. Both underwent treatment for burns after surviving the crash last Saturday in South Carolina.

I've been casually telling people that of course you can post these wooden postcards.
Just stick on a stamp and address and Australia Post will love it.
They sit in the sorting room passing it round enjoying it enormously until with a jolt they realize there's work to be done. The precious little wooden postcards goes to the top of the bag, and the postie cycles it away.


But what i haven't actually ever done is try it!

Cindy McCain - Plastic Surgery Analysis

We've touched on Sarah Palin, now what about Cindy McCain? Has she had plastic surgery? Colin Stewart from the OC Register has a nice article with the opinions of several experts. The overall consensus to the question of "Did she or didn't she?" is a big maybe.

If she's had any surgery, the only thing I would speculate is an upper blepharoplasty, or upper eyelid lift. Other than that, maybe a touch of Botox, but I doubt it. If she's actually getting plastic surgery, I would assume the press would be all over that story. I think she is aging very gracefully, although she strikes me as a bit frail.

By the way, Joe Biden...you're next!

No, not even if the fourth Pirates film he's recently signed on for is a sinking ship. In addition to the pleasant news we'll be receiving a couple more hours of Johnny as Jack, it's finally been confirmed that he has indeed taken the role of the Mad Hatter for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland project. We'll definitely raise a teacup to that. The questionable role also announced? Johnny as Tonto in Jerry Bruckheimer's film adaptation of The Lone Ranger. Away?
