Holo Glitter Top Coat

Friday's field trip was to the science center and I really didn't want to wear my picnic nails so I did a simple mani which I ended up falling in love with. These nails make me think of outer space. I found myself staring endlessly at my nails and moving them around in the light :)

I first put on two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black. I then did one coat of the Cover Girl Sparkling Top Coat- Goddess. Simple but so pretty!! Believe me when I tell you that the pictures do not do these justice. In person they are so freaking sparkly!

My first Crackle Nail Polish...

I went to Sally's for the first time... yeah I know what is wrong with me for never going into that store until now?? I picked up a few things like a glass file (which I love) a giant thing of pure acetone, some mini polishes (will post pics soon) and China Glaze Crackle in Broken Hearted. I have seen the crackle polishes everywhere and felt like I had to have just one... even though I am not a huge fan of the crackle look. They only had the pink and the white... so I went with the pink because I can't resist pink. I really wish I would have gotten the white now because it would go with more colors. I might have to go back and get it.  Ok enough talking here is the mani:

So for this mani I used 1 coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme wear Celeb City which is super shiny metallic silver and then 2coats of Cover Girl Goddess which is a holo glitter. Once that was dry I put on 1 fairly thin coat of the crackle. I think I could have even done a thinner coat cause it didn't crackle as much as I wanted it to. I played with it a little more after this mani and it seems like the thinner the coat the more it crackles. I am still deciding on whether or not I like the crackle. At first I really didn't like it but after wearing it for a couple days it is starting to grow on me. Also I apologize for the shrinkage on the tips... I forgot to wrap the tips :(

Original Crakle polish Cover Girl Crackle

So it is now a new year and I can haul polishes all I want and I sure have in the past week! Yesterday was my birthday so I had birthday money and no one could tell me anything. I did my usual trips to my go to Nail Supply stores. I stopped at Dollar Tree and I found something I thought I would never see. I found a whole selection of Cover Girl Nail polish in Duo sets and while going through the them I found some with a crackle polish. Cover Girl made these crackle polishes over 10 years ago so I wasn't sure if they would even work. I bought them anyways because its only a $1 so why not. The looked funny the formula had split so I gave it a good shaking and rolling and got it to be all one color and look what I got.

As you can see the crackle look blue, black and grey before

After shaking and rolling it It looks completely black.

This is Cover Girl Boo Hou! They are other colors all seem to be Halloween themed.

Didn't think they would work but as you can see they did!
Here it is on my test wheel over different polishes. It actually worked best with the Cover Girl polish it came with which was the light frosty yellow Cover Girl Sunkissed. It took a while for it to finish cracking all the way but it was super strong after it didn't flake off like my other crackle polishes. It didn't even need a top coat it was strong and shiny.

So if you have a Dollar Tree near by please go check it out its great to own old polishes like these since everyone seems to be making them now. I actually cant wait to get the OPI black shatter and the China Glaze crackle collection to be released!
