~ so much to say, dave matthews band

you know how you can be overcome by a song or even some of its lyrics? well, if

'music is what feelings sound like.'

then we want you to show us what they look like too... this month we decided to let you show us how music speaks to you - completely your way... it doesn't have to be literal, the way mine is... just let the music move you - and see what you come up with...

here's how to enter::

most important - our mission is to promote handmade... using handmade components and beads in your handmade work... take chances, have fun! this isn't a test, it's an exercise to help you stretch...

please share with us the song title and performer and the specific lyrics if applicable - we would love to be able to bring the auditory experience to the piece...

post the work to our flickr page... look for the link in the sidebar...  if you don't have a flickr account, it is very easy to sign up using your email address...  please upload pictures of pieces that were created specifically for this challenge...

and, yes, to sweeten the deal we have a random drawing at the end of the month... we choose from those who entered to win these prizes::

this really fabulous book - even if you don't create lampwork beads, it will give you an understanding of what is involved in the process and provide some beautiful eye candy...

and then some beautiful lampwork beads from elisabeth strong of lizardbreathbeads to work with!

cannot wait to see what you are listening to...

I've been waiting for the album for sometime and now it's out. Toro Y Moi is pretty dope for a guy who looks like a turtle, just saying!

Quantic and his Combo Barbaro -Tradition In Transition

With the power of the Internet, I have just discovered that Will Holland (Quantic) has a Colombian jazz band. "GET OUT OF TOWN!"

Tradition In Transition, Quantic and his Combo Barbaro's first and only album features some pretty cool vocalist.

Hudson Mohawke

Hudson Mohake's album Butter is a really good, after you listen to it once and then let it sit and collect dust for a few months. I just happen to transfer the album to my zune last month and I was so blown away.

Butter is super-mega bass heavy, like really BOOM BOOM bass heavy (give or take three or four songs).

...at the Moore Theater

A few weekends ago my BF took me to see Rosanne Cash at the Moore Theater In Seattle.
It was hosted by NPR and it was great fun! I took these shots that I wanted to share with you. The restroom sign cracks me up.

Inglorious bastards (Un Amico - Ennio Morricone)

I just saw Inglorious bastards with my girl friend last night and I enjoyed it. The movie was pretty long (2 hours and 28 minutes long) but it did aid in character development. I never saw the original 1970 "The Inglorious Bastards" but I hear that both movies aren't that much alike.

I remember being in the theater when I hear Samuel L. Jackson voice narrating. I kinda thought it was one of the funniest moments in the movie and it made me feel like i was watching a Tarantino movie. Not that the rest of the movie was void of his usually style, its just that one thing stuck out to me.

Another moment in the movie I clearly recall was the death of Mélanie Laurent's character; Shoshanna Dreyfus, who was killed off to a soundtrack.... which didn't really make me that sad but I left the theater thinking "I really want that song in my life".

Crystal Castles

Crystal Castles is the s***! Thats it! Nothing else can be said unless your explaining in more detail about their pure awesome-ness.

I stumbled upon them last month when I went on a random blog and heard one of their songs.

Alice Practice

I was like, O.O "i need this song in my life".

FLYamSAM (PAUL PRE SEPTEMBER MIXTAPE)

I've been looking every for a song by FLYamSAM titled Princess Toadstool. I was only able to listen to it on youtube but tonight I decided to go on a song hunt. I don't mean to brag but I fancy myself a pretty good internet bloodhound (able to find almost anything online *smug*) but for some reason I couldn't find this song anywhere. Well... I found it but its complied into a Mixtape. I found it on a blog I occasionally visit called blindiforthekids.com and you can download the mixtape free:

The mixtape is pretty funky, but I still just want the song by itself.... poo! :(

So as a last resort, I download the FLV file from youtube in the hopes of converting it into a mp3. Which was a super awesome-full idea until I realized I didn't have a FLV converter... poo! :(

Blah-blah-blah! I stumbled upon flv2mp3.com, a site that asks you to provide them with the url of the FLV file (for example: http://www.youtube.com/xxxxxxx) and they convert it into a mp3 file.
As result:

Vegastar - mode arcade (the toxic avenger remix)

I had this song in my head for the past two months and it doesn't seem like it's going to leave anytime soon.

Lily Allen arrested for assault

British singer Lily Allen was arrested in London yesterday on charges of punching a paparazzo. The incident allegedly happened in March, when Allen is accused of punching the photographer as she left a London nightclub with her boyfriend. "At approximately 1:30 a.m. on the 13th March a woman allegedly punched a male photographer in his 40s, near the Wardour Club, W1," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. "He suffered a cut to the nose, but didn't require any hospital treatment. Officers attended but the woman had left." Allen turned herself into the police yesterday, where she was photographed and had her fingerprints and a DNA sample taken. "At approximately 9:30 a.m. on the 28th June, a 21-year-old woman attended at London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with the allegation of assault," said the police rep. "She has been bailed to return in late July."
