Made With Japan

Hey guys! I just wanted to announce something that I'm VERY excited about. Right now and in the near future, I am going to be working with a project/web site, called "Made With Japan." Made with Japan is a bilingual web site that features people, places, artists, designers, and shops that influence or are highly interested in modern Japanese culture. The web site hopes to make people aware of a side of Japan that most people may not be used to seeing.

My new section of the web site is up here:
http://www.madewithjapan.com/news/2011/lactose-intolerart-made-with-japan-new-artist/

I will be contributing as time goes by. I was excited to get chosen after submitting some of my artwork to them after reading a great article on a store I love called "Nincompoop Capacity."

I am thrilled to be working with Made With Japan. Please continue to check out my posts there and what I'm doing. This is just another avenue to spread my love of this aspect of Japanese culture with the world. Thanks to all who have helped make this possible, I will keep everyone posted.

よろしくおねがいします!

Tokyo

Well, I have been in Tokyo since July 8th. It has been an AMAZING experience as usual.

This post doesnt really contain any new artwork, but some exciting news.

Some of you that are familiar with Japanese street fashion may know of the famous Tavuchi-san. She is the owner of select used clothing shops, and has been featured on basically every well-known street fashion publication and web site. She is famous for introducing American late 80s early 90s style vintage into street fashion culture in a way that is relevant to Tokyo fashion subcultures today.

As some of you know, I did an illustration of her before I went to Japan. I ended up emailing it to her, and she loved it. So, I had a custom tote bag design ordered for her to give as a gift to Japan, because we would meet.

Im glad I did. She ended up showing lots of cool street fashion kids the bag, I was so happy. The coolest thing that happened though was this....

Some of you may know fo the magazines STREET, FRUiTS, and TUNE. They are probably the most famous street fashion magazines in Japan, if not the world. FRUiTS has been a revolutionary part of changing fashion culture in Japan. FRUiTS features pictures of just women on the street, TUNE with men on the street, and STREET featuring international street fashion.

I ended up meeting the owner of all 3 of these magazines, Mami-san. She was incredibly kind and supportive. The coolest thing that happened was she ended up taking a picture of Tavuchi-san holding my bag with my illustrations on it, to hopefully be in FRUiTS! I will keep you guys posted on that status for sure.

I am looking for more and more ways to get my art out to the world. My dream is to sell my designs on products in very select shops in Tokyo, and maybe even around the world. What are you guys thoughts? What is something you would like to see with my artwork on it? Products? Any collaborations? I currently have some stuff in the works. Would like to get your opinions. Here are some pictures from the day I met Tavuchi!

Viva. H!

Today I got a nice email from a new Korean designer, who sent me information on her brand "Viva H!" Noticing how I sometimes feature new inspiration and talent on my blogs, she asked if she could be featured.

After looking at the great designs, I thought "for sure!"

Recently, I have had a blogger friend who has been really interested in Korean fashion, which also got me kind of interested. I like that the construction of a lot of the new Korean talent I'm seeing is similar to that of a somewhat Japanese aestetic, yet more refined, but maybe a little more edgy, too!

What I like about Viva H!'s designs is that I feel like they are very relatable to what is new in fashion right now, especially with the kind of designers I'm watching and keeping my eye on. I love the construction of the clothes, especially the way the peices come together, and the assymetrical balance. Another thing I'm enjoying is the geometry and simplicity of backgrounds within the web site and the email I recieved. I would love to visit the interior of this store if that was ever possible!
Please take a look at these images, and blow them up to get the full effect. Also..Check out Viva H!'s blog here:

Let me know what you think! Also..If you would like to be considered to being featured, please email me. Thanks!

With silver colored wire , black metal and black rutilated quartz it fits with cyberpunk . This model is more masculine and has a modern feel because of the choice of material .
