BRUSH-PAPER-WATER BLOG

I'm happy to announce that my work is being featured over at Chris Beck's "Brush-Paper-Water" blog!  I consider this a huge honor.
Chris makes me look good!  Go take a look at what she has to say on both her blogs!
"I'm Painting as Fast as I Can"
"Brush-Paper-Water"

BLOG FRIENDS

Lisa Walsh – Paint Misbehavin’
Now here is a woman who has a way with both a paintbrush and words! Her paintings are absolutely charming, such fun use of color – and her blog delivers a delightful discourse on her daily duties as well as her delicious paintings. Right now Lisa is challenging herself to a series of 100 polar bears in various media. Don’t delay – click over today!

Teresa Palomar - Lost in Wonder
Teresa lives in Spain! She exhibits such humor with her little paintings, and such joy at learning about new mediums or techniques. She also likes to sketch when she is out and about and she’s not afraid to try something new. She becomes very involved in her paintings and shows great skill in her handling of watercolor.

BLOG FRIENDS

Ginny Stiles
Ginny is another “bloggerite” whom I have met in person – very bubbly and talkative! – a real joy! She takes on technique after technique and excels at each one. Seems she also is a very active teacher in both of her homes - Florida and Wisconsin! She has such energy, and it comes across in her paintings.
Check out her blog – not only for for her paintings – but also for lots of interesting information and beautiful travel journals.

Nicholas Simmons
About two years ago Nick Simmons gave a workshop locally, but I was not able to attend. However, afterward, any time I ran into someone who had attended, I was regaled with tales of his wonderful workshop – not to mention his charm and good looks!

At any rate, having heard all that good stuff about him I looked him up on the web and was interested in his technique. Since then I have seen articles about him, checked out his blog and purchased his DVD from Creative Catalyst Publishing.  I was finally able to take his workshop in May and meet him in person.

Nick is winning numerous awards with his large watercolor and fluid acrylic paintings and it was wonderful to be able to see some of them close up. In addition to his painting ability, Nick also writes music and plays guitar – but he did not bring his guitar to our workshop (darn). Talk about a “man for all seasons”! If you have not already done so, check out his blog to view his amazing and vibrant work – you won’t be sorry!

GAYLYNN'S LEGENDARY SHOW!

Here is a photo of Gaylynn at her “Legendary Art Show”! The name comes from the complex where some of them live - on Legendary Way. (I get a giggle out of that name – makes me think along the lines of “the legendary Andrew Wyeth”!!!!! - but we can all aspire to become legendary, can't we!)
Anyway – very nice show with a good mix of mediums and styles. And it was nice to see Gaylynn’s paintings up close and personal rather than on the blog!!! She’s got some nice work!
Re-met her parents and daughter - who was instructed to photograph me looking just like Raquel Welch - right down to the "Foster Grants"!
Sunday was a beautiful day here in the Greater Cincinnati area and I took my husband along for the ride. Of course he had to sample the vittles!! Then I had to treat him to a malted milk on the way home!
Art and food – doesn’t get much better than that!

BLOGS AND BLOGGERITES!

Joan Sandford-Cook
Joan hails from England and is not only a good artist but also quite a teacher. She always has some sketching and painting to show us, and she teaches all kinds of media – watercolor, pastel, pen and ink – you name it!! I love the travelogues of her part of England when she goes on a day trip. I always look forward to reading her blog.

Pablo Villicana Lara
Pablo doesn’t post often, but when he does you will be enthralled by his paintings - full of deep, rich color and vibrant sunlight and inspired by his cultural heritage. His portraits are spectacular!
You will be hard pressed to find a better watercolorist anywhere.

Gaylynn Robinson
Gaylynn doesn’t blog frequently, but when she does she will have something intriguing, uplifting or educational to talk about. I met Gaylynn at an art show where she was standing in front of my painting. When I walked up she introduced herself and told me that she admired my work and she frequented my blog. I was so excited – I had just met my first “bloggerite”!
Since then she has joined GCWS, taken one of my workshops, and we have seen each other frequently at other art venues and she has become a true Blog Friend!!!

BLOGS AND BLOGGERITES!

I’ll be at a workshop for the next few days – hope you miss me! In the mean time . . . .

In honor of my blogging friendships – from time to time  - I’ll be doing some short posts to feature my blog roll members (in no particular order!) If you haven’t done so already, check out their blogs.

Chris Beck
Chris is an accomplished artist and a signature member of TWSA, Watercolor West and Missouri Watercolor Society. She likes to paint small and I’ve been fortunate to see one of her paintings up close and personal!!! Amazing!!!
Apparently Chris is not busy enough painting and exhibiting – she also has TWO BLOGS! One is about her individually – “I’m Painting as Fast as I Can” where she shares her paintings and techniques.
The other is Brush-Paper-Water on which she so graciously features artists she knows and admires.
If you haven’t already done so – go check out both of them.

Jacqueline Gnott
I first saw Jacqueline’s work at the Madison, IN Chautauqua some years ago and have enjoyed her paintings ever since. If you enjoy photo realistic you will love her work - she’s GREAT! I was so happy to find her blog Realism in Watercolors and am enjoying seeing her daily paintings which are breathtaking. Recently she has begun painting in oils and they are just as spectacular as her watercolors – and I would not have expected anything less! Jacqueline also has begun producing videos so you can follow along with her as she produces some of her exquisite paintings.

Murr Brewster
This blog isn’t art related, but who cares!!  (Well, actually, it kind of is - she just paints with words instead of paint!!!)
Murr Brewster blogs twice a week – and her posts are not to be missed! Put her on your blog roll and she will brighten your day! (DON’T DELAY, DO IT NOW!) And if you have never been to her blog, give yourself some time to go back over her older posts – it will be well worth your time! Just be sure that you are not ingesting anything while reading her blog, or you may find yourself in need of a damp rag to wipe up your computer area! She can be laugh out loud funny!

BLOGS AND BLOGGERITES!

When I first heard the term “blog” it meant nothing to me. It was actually my husband who gave me an article about blogging. Well, I thought it was very “hokey”, just another crazy thing someone had dreamed up. Then I heard more people talking about “blogs” and I got a bit curious. So, as usual, I was not ahead of the pack but running like crazy to catch up to it!
When I started blogging I was afraid I wouldn’t have anything to say, so I made a list of some ideas, thinking I would have posts for a couple months. Now sometimes it seems I can’t shut up! This “social network” is a wonderful thing.
From my home in rural Indiana I can receive a critique about my painting from someone who lives across the country – or across the globe. I can give another blogger advice, or vice versa. With nothing more than a few key strokes and a click of my mouse I’m certain to find whatever I’m looking for - there is bound to be a blog about it!
We don’t have to be best friends, and in fact will probably never meet each other – although I have met a couple “bloggerites”!!! - but we can share our knowledge and thoughts with each other.
Thanks to those of you who read my posts, and a special thanks to those of you who have been so kind to respond to my posts and begin a dialogue with me.
In honor of my blogging friendships – from time to time ** - I’ll be doing some short posts to feature my blog roll members (in no particular order!) If you haven’t done so already, check out their blogs.
**  (TRANSLATION:  When I have no paintings to show because I've been busy doing other stuff that is no where near as much fun as painting but has to be done by me since I don't have a secretary, cook, housekeeper, butler or chauffeur to do it for me!!!)
 Rhonda Carpenter
I must begin with Rhonda!
Rhonda must be one of the queens of the Blog World! She blogs at Watercolors and Words almost every day and always has some tidbit of information to share. She is also not afraid to let us see her failures (few!)as well as her successes (many!) and allows us to constantly learn from her. She’s also a member of the Greater Cincinnati Watercolor Society  and was our recording secretary the past 3 years and helped with several of our shows the past few years. She’s got a bubbly personality and is a very upbeat and positive person! I'm proud to say I know her personally!
Gary Keimig
Gary is a wonderful landscape and western artist living in ‘Big, Wonderful Wyoming”. He gets such wonderful depth to his paintings in various mediums – oil, gouache, acrylic and watercolor. He also has been writing some very interesting posts about his area of the country, as well as his painting.
Gary is quite the adventurer and photographer too - at least he will be once again after his foot heals completely (you need to read his blog to find out what happened to him!).
And, as if that blog isn't enough, visit his other blog Outdoor Adventures  – where he will post some great photos and talk about some of his outdoor western adventures.
