THIS BLOG HAD TO HAPPEN...
This blog had to happen. There are millions of blogs online; millions about fashion, millions about art, and millions about millions of things.I still felt there was a lack. I wanted to tie it all together. This blog is aimed at the twentysomething woman. It will explore issues, interests and the likes for women our age. I want it to evolve into a discussion forum, a networking hub, and more importantly, a place to explore fashion and art from OUR perspective. I'm a twentysomething year old woman. I'm independent, well-traveled and have a deep passion for fashion and art. I'm a graduate student living far from home. I love (and miss!) my family, friends and boyfriend. I love my dog. I've been through hell and back, and I want to relate to you. So enough about me... I will also remain anonymous (for now) for a variety of reasons.
KIU (Keep it up!),

SERAPHINITE a.k.a Clinoclore :
----------------------------
Seraphinite (or Serefina), also known by the name Clinochlore, is a common member of the Chlorite Group of minerals. Clinochlore derives its name from the Greek "klino" meaning "oblique" or "inclined" and "chloros" meaning "green" as it is commonly colored deep forest green to green-black with inclusions of silvery Mica. Seraphinite, is derived from the Latin word "seraphin" referring to the first order of angels. The allusion to angels is due to the feathery wing patterns made by the silvery Mica contained within the stone. The Mica inclusions exhibit a chatoyancy and giving Seraphinite a wavery sheen.
-------------------------------
For the methapysically inclined :
-------------------------------
Often referred to as "an angel stone" due to its feathery look and strong Air to Earth qualities, Seraphinite is said to help facilitate contact and communication with the angels of the highest level.

Name : Pamela Quevedo
specialty : Tatted Jewelry and Accessories
Location : Merced, California
- Tell us a bit about yourself name, location, affiliations, personal stuff?
My name is Pamela, I'm a stay at home mom to two little girls. I've been tatting for about four years and I've been selling on Etsy for about three. I am currently a member of the Etsy street team and not much else.
Please describe your creative process how, when, materials, etc.
I tat off and on all day long. I sometimes start with vintage patterns, but often I am inspired by pieces done in entirely different mediums. My preferred material is simple cotton thread occasionally embellished with crystals.
Apart from creating things, what do you do?
When I'm not creating, I'm spending time with my family. We enjoy video games, comic books and movies.
How did you first become interested in the Steampunk Culture?
I found Steampunk through literature and anime movies many years ago. When I began tatting it seemed natural to emulate a Neo Victorian style that fits in well with the Steampunk style.
Why do you like it ?
I love the dichotomy of the culture. The new beside the old and the free interpretation of it all. It's a very welcoming and all inclusive environment and I've met so many interesting and adventurous people because of that.
What is your favourite piece of work by yourself?
My favorite pieces are always changing, but one of my favorites is the Portrait of An Elegant Lady. It was one of my first adaptions of a 40's era pattern. It was originally one half of a collar and the process of changing it to a necklace was very challenging and rewarding.
Portrait of an Elegant Lady
What are the 3 most popular items in your shop ?
A Kind Of Pale Jewel tatted mask.
I made this piece after someone made a request for a lace mask, they never bought. The mask has given me quite a lot of attention even a mention at boing boing
A Kind Of Pale Jewel tatted mask.
La Petite Goth Tatted Bracelet.
This piece was modified from a simple vintage edging pattern
La Petite Goth Tatted Bracelet.
Vive la Reine necklace.
This one started as a vintage pattern for a chain covering that I added tatted chains to, to create an incredibly bold design
Vive la Reine necklace.
- What is your newest piece ?
I just finished making three new pieces that make up my new footwear line. I started with ankle corsets based on a pair of shoes by Vicente Rey that I spied on a blog. From there I created a pair of barefoot sandals as well.
- Who is you favorite Steampunk artist ?
I have too many favorites to mention!
- What Steampunk items do you cherish the most ?
Well, not to be silly, but I do adore my Catherinette Ring that my husband bought me for Christmas!
-What are your goal , projects & plans for the future ?
My goal is to always create new and compelling designs and continue to give as much exposure to tatting as I can. I am always working on new projects, but I never know which direction I'll go in next.
- Any promotion you would like to offer exclusively on the blog ?
I can offer free shipping . I'll offer it for the entire month of March, Just mention Steampunk Rings at checkout, shipping cost will be refunded through Paypal.

I'm being featured on Topman.com!

Well, the wait is over, and the excitement is here! My artwork is being featured on Topman.com! Currently, it is just on the UK site.
So here's the story.
I found out about Topman when I was in Tokyo, at the LaForet mall in Harajuku. I had heard of "Topshop" (the women's line) before based out of London, but didn't realize there was a men's line as well.
I got back home, went to their site, and they had just started a US version. They were needing contributors, such as artists, illustrators, etc..to contribute to their blog.
So I emailed them.
I never thought that I would probably even get a reply, but I did. They saw my work, and LOVED IT! I couldn't believe it. I was so thrilled. So what topman.com ended up doing was sending me an email with images of clothes. They wanted me to draw my characters wearing their clothes, which they would feature on their blog, linking my images to buy clothes in the online store!
Topman.com gets approximately 5 million unique viewers every week! This is amazing, and I think it will give me major exposure. I'm so excited and thankful.
To get to the images on the site...
go to http://www.topman.com
Make sure you are on the "UK" site. It will say if you are on the UK or US site in the top right corner.
At the bottom center of the page, there will be a link to the blog.
Click it!
Then, click the features tab, and click the story that says "contribute" or something like that. There I am! I am featured as a designer that contributed to the blog. I'm soooo pumped.
Anyway...please let me know what you guys think! This is so exciting for me. Big things are happening. I'm so greatful.

Sean Connery Shakes Up Louis Vuitton

It seems famed photog Annie Leibovitz can lure just about any celeb with her lens.
The original James Bond once said he'll never appear in another film but he stepped in front of the camera for the latest installation of the Louis Vuitton "Core Values" ad campaign. The 78-year-old icon posed on a dock in the Bahamas sporting casual duds and a Bermuda hat, and lounging beside a waterproof L.V. Keepall bag. The photo was shot near Connery's Bahamas residence. Not bad.
He looks pretty damned good, too. And apparently, the image was the result of a test shoot so Connery hadn't even hit the hair and makeup chair.
The "Core Values" campaign has featured other legendary figures like Keith Richards, Catherine Deneuve, and Francis Ford Coppola. The new ad is set to hit publications later this month.

Steampunk Rings : Blog exclusive previews
Today i just received some amazing glass beads from www.BluewaterStudio.etsy.com . They are currently moving the beads to a new shop www.BeadBead.etsy.com
You can check in the sold items to have an idea of was there because the inventory is in the process of being move to the new shop .
I'm amazed by these new beads . What i like is the fact that they have a rough and rusty texture on the sides and in the middle some nice facets . the light reflects on its facet it also goes thought the bead to show its rich colors .
This is the actual description of the green one i used in the ring below :
Slab cut glass beads, gorgeous, gorgeous crystal clear medium green glass with a LIGHT touch of Picasso on the ends, the perfect compliment to a lighter shade of green. These are brilliant. These are perfect for organic, natural looks, light enough for dangles and great for focals - they really catch the light and the facets are nice and crisp! (I like crisp facets! lol)
This ring is not for sale yet in my shop and it will be shortly .
It is made of copper , Brass and pewter .

Steampunk Rings
I remember a few months ago when a friend told me 'have you heard about steampunk?’ I had no idea what he was talking about. I knew what it was but didn't know it had a name. He described it to me because he saw that I was making rings that were very similar to that style. With a little research and experiment with different materials, I created a unique style of rings. I wanted it to look like something mechanical . I also used material of natural copper and gun metal color to give it an antique look.
The technique I used includes a lot of precise coiling and twisting of 2 pieces of wire. I used about 1 meter of copper wire per ring. Originally I only had antique metal and borosilicate glass bead for the centerpiece. Recently I have included some interesting semi-precious stones: Indian Agate, Leopardskin jasper, red coral, smoky agate ,tiger eye beads and Boulder Matrix Opal.
Part of the fun in making these rings is in selecting the perfect centerpiece.
I'm also in the process of creating imaginary powers of stones , ideas for different mechanism and how these rings would have been used in the steampunk era . I used to play Role Playing game like shadowrun and Dungeon and dragon . I enjoy playing but even more creating new worlds , magical items and scenarios . Creating these rings opened many opportunities for others creative projects that I'm looking forward to realize .
My favorite :

This is my favorite because of the gear that perfectly fits in the center.
This is my original model with and antique copper bead.

The Olsens Dig Their Heels Into Steve Madden
Looks like Ashley and Mary-Kate are spreading their design wings even more, this time collaborating on a line of footwear with mainstream mall staple, Steve Madden. The line will carry the name of one of their current projects, Elizabeth+James. So any thoughts? Will you be tottering around in some Olsen twin chaussures?

Eva loves Calvin Klein Undies!!!

Eva Mendes is said to be the new face of Calvin Klein Underwear…according to WWD
She volunteered herself into rehab to deal with substance abuse and personal issues. It's been the trend that celebs go to rehab and come out with several new deals. Well the Calvin Klein deal was in the works long before Eva went to rehab. She's also going to be the spokesperson for a TBD Calvin Klein fragrance.

Gucci movie in the works
Ridley Scott, who helmed "American Gangster" and "Gladiator," is set to produce and direct a biopic based on the Gucci family dynasty. Women's Wear Daily says the big-budget flick will focus on the meteoric rise and near fall of the Italian fashion empire in the 1970s and '80s. The plot will revolve around the late Maurizio Gucci and his nasty battle with his cousins to protect his 50 percent stake in the business. It's also expected to include the scandalous murder attempt on Maurizio by his wife, Patrizia Reggiani, who's now in the slammer for hiring a hit man to try blowing him away.source
