The reign of terror Tara is officially over, and Miss USA Tara Conner passed her crown on to Miss Tennessee, Rachel Smith.

Conner offered Smith this sage advice: "Be yourself and put your own flavor on the title"--just as long as that flavor isn't whiskey, vodka or beer.

Tara has future plans to look forward to, which include writing a book (of course), correspondence work, and some acting.

Mess USA Conner Hands Over Crown Friday

Rehabbed and embattled Miss USA Tara Conner passes on her crown and officially ends her reign Friday evening. 51 contestants will parade around the stage on ABD broadcast of the 2007 Miss USA pageant, showing brains, beauty, and all their surgically enhanced assets for America to see.

Tara Conner will be a hard act to follow, since most of the US now recognizes her name after bouts of underage drinking, drugs, debauchery, and a publicised verbal spanking by Donald Trump, followed by a stint in rehab.

She told "Access Hollywood" this week she thought the pageant would benefit from her experience.

"I think it is going to bring out a whole different era of people. The new girl will bring a new flavor to the title, just like I brought a very strange flavor to the title," Conner told the television show.

She may also reveal some of the six tattoos that she was told by pageant officials to cover up. "It's me. They're cute. That is the great thing even now. They (pageant officials) are so accepting of me and it is like this huge family," she added.

It remains to be seen if Conner will garner the success of former beauty queen Vanessa Williams, or if she will fall quietly out of sight of the public eye.

Tara Conner Looking Towards Broadway

Star magazine reports that Miss USA, Tara Conner, has been secretly rehearsing for a role on Broadway. She is looking to play Roxy Hart in 'Chicago', and has been putting in lots of hours singing and dancing.

Insiders say that her singing isn't bad, her dancing needs some work, but she just plain can't act.

Looks like she will need to put in lots more hours if she thinks she will be seeing her name in lights anytime soon.

Tara Conner Admits She's Still Tempted by Drugs

After cruising the catwalk for the Tadashi Shoji fashion show, Tara Conner posed for photos with Miss Teen USA Katie Blair, and spoke with reporters. She was clean and sober, but admitted that she still has cravings for drugs and alcohol, and her battles are far from over.

"If I were to say I never have cravings, then I would be lying," Conner, 21, told the Daily News backstage after modeling a gold and black V-neck gown in the Tadashi show.

"I'll be in situations where I would have initially had a drink, but I feel better and I take more pride in not doing it now," she said. "I realize that if I put any chemical in my body that I'm going to have an allergic reaction, and it's going to take me back, and I don't want to go back."

Conner recently was given a chance to redeem herself and keep her Miss USA crown, after she was given a public dressing-down by pageant owner, Donald Trump, and ordered into rehab.

Conflicting stories surround the newly rehab released Miss USA, Tara Conner, over whether or not she has had her proverbial post-rehab leash shortened by The Donald. Conner has been moved out of her Trump Tower digs, and is now in a larger apartment further uptown, but she shares it with a chaperone who accompanies her everywhere.

"She is not allowed to go to clubs anymore," dished a super-in-the-know spy, "and she has a lot of new rules for going out." A spokesperson for Miss USA said, "Plans to move to a bigger apartment with a chaperone have been in the works for months, and Tara is free to go wherever she wants."

TMZ has exclusively learned that Miss USA Tara Conner will be getting out of rehab on Sunday, and that Miss Universe officials are "licking their chops" because her imminent release will cause a "news frenzy."

We're also told that people who run the facility say she's back on track. Conner spent the last few weeks at a treatment center in Pennsylvania, after the Donald decided not to fire her for her wild, hard-partying antics and dalliances with multiple men, as TMZ first reported in December.

Since then, two of her fellow contestants in the pageant, Miss Nevada Katie Rees and Miss New Jersey Ashley Harder have been forced to turn in their crowns.

20 year old Ashley Harder has resigned from her throne because well, she got pregnant.

The Philadelphia Daily News reports that the 20-year-old Harder has “voluntarily” stepped down, because you can't compete while you're pregnant.
