Shatters + Bottles by Shadow

I wanted to play with my new shatters so  I  did a quick mani I applied Revlon Royal then took out my Turquoise shatter and then thought to do some accent nails but i was pretty tired so I ended just using silver shatter for accent nails. It didn't feel complete so I added some glitter! I did one coat of Cover girl boundless color city lights and a coat of seche vite to smooth it out.

So I recently arranged a swap with Rebecca from rebecca likes nails and one of the the polishes in the swap was her beautiful fraken that she later named Rebecca likes cupcake. I had made an order from Transdesign.com and with that order I had got some empty bottles for Rebecca and to try to do a franken. As I was packing her stuff I had an AHA moment I thought to myself I sometime buy polishes because I like the shape of the decoration of the bottle so why not decorate the bottle.. I already had an idea of what I was going to draw because Rebecca love hello kitty like I do and her fraken is called Rebecca likes cupcakes so why not make a Hello Kitty Cupcake. I decided I would draw the outline with a sharpie and then design the entire thing with nail polish. Here is the begin of the the process

Here is all the polishes I used.

Final Product

After the polishes dried I added a coat of Seche Vite to give it some protection.I love how it turned out I almost kept it for myself but It was Rebecca's fraken that inspired this creation so she deserves it. I will be making more of these.

Butterflies fly with me

Sorry I've gone MIA I was a pretty busy last week because the kids were on vacation from school so It was a pretty long week dealing with my Rugrats at work. I still managed to do my nails almost everyday but didn't have the time to post them up.So first I'm gonna show you the most recent mani which I wore for Easter.

I let my hubby pick the color and he picked out a nameless mini Hello Kitty jelly polish that I got from Target in a set. I wanted to do an accent nails and I still had my Sally Hansen salon effects strip laying around so I used one strip from the Fly with me set. I was actually able to get away with only using one strip for both nails so I still have enough strips to do a full mani.

I wanted the color to really pop so I did one coat of white on my nails first then 3 coats of the HK polish.

I love the Hello Kitty polish! I need another one of it for a back up because it will definitely not last with it being so mini! Who knew that it was this beautiful. Do you give cheapo polishes an fair chance or just brush them off?

Playing with Acrylic paint

I while ago I seen a post from Ash-Lilly's Lacquer Lust on one stroke nail art and she did his beautiful flower design and I just had to give it a try. I purchased some acrylic paint from transdesign and I always have tons of different size paint brushes. I used a small squared brush sorry no picture. This was my 1st attempt at this I can draw and paint but its much harder when you have a smalled canvas.

After doing this I realized it is  much easier to do designs with Acrylic paint then it is with drops of nail polish which should have been a Homer Simpson moment DOH! I then wanted to do more so I made my favorite character Hello Kitty in a Tokidoki Cactus suit. I really liked how it came out and I will probably do it in a mani soon.

Acrylic paint is now my go to for free hand nail art! Have any of you tried using acrylic paint for your designs?

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! I see everyone is posting their Halloween manis so I wanted to share with you that my nails are looking like right now. This year I decided not to buy a costume but I wanted to be Hello Kitty because I absolutely love Hello Kitty. So what I did was get the Lady Gaga hair bow and painted it red to then place it in my hair to be Hello Kitty's bow then add some whiskers, a yellow nose and one of my 100s of Hello Kitty shirts and Viola! I am Hello Kitty.

Added some white out contacts just to be a little creepy

I wanted my nails to match my costume, I painted my nails white, stamped a red bow design on all of them but the ring finger the some yellow dots. Then on the ring finger I stamped a Hello Kitty.

Ok back to passing out candy and trick or treating with the little ones. Have a fun and safe Halloween .

Friendly Encounters

This is another in a series of meetings of my friends and celebs.

My niece Laura (aka Lorelei Diego) has been featured on this site before in a piece about an ad I ran which featured her. Today, Laura makes her 'Friendly Encounters' debut.
While shopping at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg (IL), my sister Nancy and Laura saw Hello Kitty. Nancy urged Laura to get a picture with Hello Kitty.
I am not sure why either would want a picture with Hello Kitty (because this was before this blog and the awesome exposure that comes with it). Yet, I am not sure why I want pictures with backup catchers. So who am I to mock?!
Here is my niece Laura in her 'Friendly Encounters' debut with Hello Kitty! Thanks to Nancy and Laura for sharing this photo.
